Two Bright + Beautiful Bathroom Remodels

A well designed bathroom is one of the most important elements of any home. Whether you’re buying or renting, the bathroom is one of the most trafficked rooms of the house, so why wouldn’t you want it to look fabulous and work wonderfully?

We recently completed two beautiful bathroom designs and so we thought we might share the process and final looks with you and show you how a well-design bathroom can make a huge difference to a home.

Our clients wanted to dramatically change both bathrooms in their home. They felt that the bathrooms were dull and they wanted to create spaces with intrigue, while also creating a calm and relaxing environment.

Designing bathrooms that impact our clients mood in a more calming manner is a top priority throughout each refurb or new build – bathrooms are extremely personal spaces and this is something we alway take into account when creating a new design for our clients.

A before and after shot of our first bathroom redesign.

Our redesign involved stripping back the walls and flooring, and starting from scratch with new tiling, paint, wallpaper + sanitary ware. We introduced white glossy tiles, a mirror and bright botanical wallpaper which injected a freshness and lightness to this space. Whereas elements such as the black border wall tile around the perimeter of the floor is a small detail but it really ties the scheme together. It further accentuates the black square tiling seen on the Victorian floor tiles. Subtle details like this can speak volumes and can really enhance the overall look of a space.

The second bathroom required new tiling, paint, carpentry work, lighting and sanitaryware. The colour palette has a moodier and more sophisicated feel here. We introduced a deep, darker colourway for the wall paneling; ‘Petroleum’ by Acres Hall Paint, which contrasted beautifully with the delicate botanical wallpaper installed above. This darker shade of blue also brings out the brass detail throughout the wallpaper, as well as the gold sanitaryware and lighting. The vanity unit, designed by April and the Bear, was custom made for this project, topped off in marble with a chamfered edge.

Bathrooms can sometimes be overlooked in the design of a house but we spend so much time in them, they deserve good design + careful consideration and they can become little (or large) sanctuaries in your home.

Thank you to our clients for allowing us to shoot their beautiful new spaces, and to photographer Cliodhna Prendergast for her amazing work on capturing the essence of both.
